Dinner – chicken gravy on rice
Snacks – peanuts, ice cream, watermelon

It's Wednesday and I'm up before dawn, and catching up on the Diet 1 blog, enjoying the cool air on the deck before the day heats up.

I'm not working very hard at getting the weight down for this Thursday weigh in at the VA, but did drop another pound.

Got 2 good walks in today, one in the morning down to McDonald's to get Gina's burrito and one down at the lake in the evening. I actually walked in the sand a bit, that's real exercise.

I finally got some fabric up on the garage door and started painting table cover for the show this Saturday. 1st real airbrush work I've done since the cover for Jack's Rock back in 2008.
I've thought a lot about doing my book illustrations with airbrush, and this is a good warm up to it. Illustration work would go much faster, and be much larger than the pencil ones in my sketchbooks, thus giving more detail to the shrunk down images for the books.

I'm up at 5:30 AM and it's pretty quiet out here on the deck. Gina hasn't been sleeping well because of her bad knee. She's gone way too long for the replacement operation, and probably should've had it done a couple years ago.

I rebuilt Gina's website today and did a couple more coffee mugs.

I got in a couple of good walks today, before spending most of the day hiding from the heat.

Temperature changes, like many other things, get more and more annoying as you age. Aging is probably the number 1 reason for my Diet 1.
Simply put, as time goes by, you just can't live the same as you did at 20. Not unless you spent your youth sitting in a chair doing nothing. As you age, everything physical gets harder, and you have less energy to do it with. Things you never noticed, become serious considerations, and unless really worked on, weight gain and loss of muscle tone continue unimpeded as you go from a jock at 20, to an over sized couch potato at 50 and finally a walker jockey at 70.

Breakfast – banana and cereal
Lunch –
Dinner – chicken and potato salad
Snacks – watermelon, ice cream, peanuts, cheese

I'm up at 6:30 am, and working on coffee mugs for the show. A cool, quiet, Memorial Day. Not nearly as sore as I expected after yesterdays engine wrestling.

And down another pound.

I got the 1st batch of coffee mugs printed and started organizing stuff for the show on Saturday.
Didn't get much exercise today.
In the afternoon we drove down to Pymatuning Lake for a picnic. We started with ice cream on the PA side, by the causeway, then drove around the bottom of the lake through Jamestown and over to the park on the Ohio side. The park was nearly empty, and we set up a couple of chairs near the edge of the lake and just sat and relaxed until nearly sunset. Gina walked around and took some pictures. A very nice way to end the Memorial weekend.

Breakfast – burrito
Lunch – 2 eggs and toast
Dinner –
Snacks – ½ yellow pepper, pop corn

Cool, temp in the low 50s on deck here at 7 AM. I even put on a jacket.

Yesterday I started stacking up 36 inch pants to send to goodwill. Now that summer is fading, all those shorts and extra-large shirts for warmer weather will go out door to. All new, SMALLER cloths for spring.

I got a lot of exercise in today. Starting by helping the neighbor move an old V-8 engine and transmission out of his garage. About 1000 lbs, and a real wrestling match without an engine hoist.
Right after that, I walked down to the lake to meet Gina for lunch, and finally, another walk down on the boardwalk with Gina in the evening, with a relaxing sunset over the lake, as someone played bagpipes up on the hill. A very nice way to end the day.

Breakfast – Left over stir fry
Lunch – hamburger and potato salad, chips
Dinner –
Snacks – 2 burgers, chips, ice cream, pop corn

AMAZING. I dropped a pound yesterday. Must've been the exercise, because I certainly didn't slow down on food. I'm kind of trying, but barely stable in the eating department. Like an alcoholic walking past a bar, I still try and make excuses to go in and pig out.

Today we stopped for ice cream, and Gina didn't want any as she was still full from lunch at the winery that we spent the afternoon at. Instead of just saying no, or getting a small one for me, I got a medium with the excuse that Gina would want a few licks anyway. Of course she could do that with a small cone to, it was just an excuse to break the Diet 1 rule of smaller portions.
But a pound lost is a pound lost......

Lunch – chicken quesadilla
Dinner –
Snacks – banana, chili, 4 mini Reese's cups, 2 ham n cheese roll ups, peanut butter pretzels, rice

Well, I didn't go back down yesterday, but at least I didn't go up any farther. Now I need to start pushing it back down. I have to be down to 185 lbs. minimum by Thursday.

I think part of its due to the weather. This last week it's been cooling down as fall is just starting to hint that it's coming. You know, that old thing about bulking up in preparation for the winter.
Well, my worst habit, and hardest to break is snacking. It's almost an addiction, and this last week it has been an addiction. It's not only mindlessly nibbling anything in sight, but consciously kicking Diet 1 around the room as it tries desperately to hold me back.

It was so bad today that I actually went without any real meals, yet by mid-afternoon felt full and even uncomfortable. I did get in 2 good walks and a lot of work, all of which helped stem the tide of excess calorie intake.

FUCK!!! I'm pissed with myself. I let go yesterday and I'm back above 190!
I'm 10 pounds heavier than where I'm supposed to be at this point, and it's only because I let my Diet 1 rules slip around friends.

Part of it is a social thing, going along with the crowd. Part is just letting old habits get in the way!. All of it sucks.

I held back a bit today, only nibbling spoonfuls of chili during the day and corn on the cob for dinner, but sucked down a couple donuts at the very writers group!
