Water 6 glasses
Dieter's
Hell! The person or
persons you live with. You may get lucky and have that rare
companion that jumps in and supports you 110% to the end, pretty much
dieting right along with you.
But for
the rest of us, it's life around people with their own habits, tastes
and ways of doing everything, that will make it a challenge to lose
even a pound.
This is
just why I created my Diet 1, as a way of taking very small
steps, slowly over time.
It's a
lot easier sitting at the dinner table, eating smaller bites, slowly,
than munching away at a dry salad or slice of toast while everyone
else pigs out.
But of
course it's still tough.
You're just getting comfortable, you ate an
hour or so ago and you're doing fine, then somebody says “I'm
hungry.”
Or
you're sipping away at your glass of water, while they are guzzling
down beer, wine or soda.
It
always comes down to self-discipline. A lack of which is how you got
here in the first place.
My Diet 1 to the rescue...
You are
not stopping anything cold turkey. You're cutting back slowly on
some things, while slowly starting others. You are not overwhelming
your life with that trendy diet regime or spending hours a day at the
gym. My Diet 1 is just a constant reminder to change slowly.
1
bite, 1 step and 1 day at a time.
If your
partner or kids decide to munch away on chips while you're watching
TV, don't freak out, or pig out. Take a bite, 1 bite, if
you have to. Then, as always, remember to enjoy it, savor it. Even
if it's only one chip.
In time,
all this will become habit and you will find yourself taking smaller
portions and smaller bites with out
thinking.
My Diet 1 also makes life easier for the folks around you. The small
changes you are making are much less of a shock for them, and so
acceptance is easier and quicker. Soon, they won't pay much
attention to those small portions on your plate. Or that glass of
water. You still may have to do some explaining when there's a foot
of snow on the ground and you are bundling up for your daily walk.
But
it's all just 1 step at a time!
