I had breakfast with Mike and guys in Painesville, then out to Perry to house and dog sit.
When the weather cleared. I put in the ceiling vent and my brothers garage and got it wired up.

Gino came over about 5:30, and I took her out for Mexican for dinner. After that, I spent the evening reading my 1st Stephen King book, “On Writing”. Very good!!

Also, I was in my 3rd or 4th day of a head cold, wasn't really paying much attention to when it started, but I probably picked it up Monday, at Tims' nieces' house. Today was the worst of it.

Breakfast – 2 eggs and toast

Snacks – Green beans, peanut butter pretzels, cheese

Gina I drove down the Rogers outdoor market to check it out, and I did buy a couple pounds of fresh green beans for snacks.

It's rainy day, so I don't plan on a lot of walking, plus I have our travel book to get done, the deadline is Saturday. This book is only for 2013 trip. The 2014-15 trip has 5 times has many photos to go through.

I got pretty cocky after the nice weight loss chart from the VA, and have had 7 doughnuts in the last 3 days. Now it's catching up. Time to crack down and start paying attention.

Cereal and fruit for lunch, salad, or meet for dinner. No seconds, extras, large plates, or snacks.

I noticed for several days that even with the extra walking, my hip stopped being a pain, until today when I got back to work on the computer. It's been a while since I've sat up here glued to my computer screen, but in less than an hour, I could barely walk.
Looks like it's time to pay a lot closer attention to chairs.

Lunch - 2 large sausages and a little later a banana
Dinner - small plate roast beef and veggies

I'm still holding at 195, and considering the pig out on donuts the last 2 days, I'm doing pretty good. An occupational hazard of spending hours a day in coffee shops, writing and scribbling pictures. These places pretty much specialize in comfort foods like pastries, and other high carb sugar bombs.

My steady walking and slim eating the rest of the day is all that's stemming the tide of weight gain. I'm now averaging 10,000 steps a day. Pretty good for an artist.

Well, my weight is heading back down again. I started the day at Harbor Perk, in Ashtabula Harbor, and got one more drawing done for 3 Puppies. My pedometer has been acting up, so no exact counts, but well over 6000 steps per day, as I'm getting a lot of walking in.

I spent most of today with Bernie, going around to toy shows, looking for die cast cars, and of course eating too much food, again.

I'm still a bit sore from yesterday's step marathon, but still got out for my morning walk at 6 AM.
Friends of Gina's came over today for a visit, lunch and snacks, and I added another pound.
I did get some good walking in.

In the evening. 3 more small Cokes and finished off the cheetah was from last week.

A new walking record today, and boy are my legs sore. I've done for separate walks today, plus the usual running around the house. Over 20,000 steps, a drop in the bucket compared to when I was younger, but now a milestone.

New Zealand was last real walking I've done, but that was shell strewn beaches, and new and interesting places. Walking for 5 miles a day around Conneaut is starting to get boring, and I'm beginning to look at new places to visit, all in a desperate effort to reverse couch potato syndrome.

At the official weigh in at the VA clinic today, I was down to 196.3, that's 2lbs dropped since the last trip. So I just have to keep focused, and keep moving.

I'm back down to 195, but still slacking off. I'm getting some inspiration back in my system, and I should be back to normal soon as I get the taxes done. Yeah, I know, 2 days till the deadline, and I'm still whining about it, but I got them started. This year I'm thinking about filing as retired, so I gonna figure out all new tax write offs, and how much of my income, I actually have to pay taxes on.

Gina I walked at Presque Isle today in Erie, and it gave me a chance to check out a new coffee shop. She's also been getting hooked on a new video game a friend got for her birthday, called Animal Crossing.

I slipped a bit today, when Franck and Denise came over to visit. Gina got 2 bags of cheese puffs, and we also went out for lunch. I'm still well below my old eating habits, but not good enough for Diet 1.

Lunch, small turkey dinner with corn , a cup of Chile, and some ice cream

Snow. Last gasp a winner. I imagine, a 1 ½ inches today. Good thing I got lots of walking in yesterday, because I hate doing much today.

Went down the Harbor Perk today and got 5 more illustrations done for the 3 puppy story. Coffees a bit strong for my taste, but they have nice music in the morning, and the atmosphere is nice.
Back to Died 1, and the next deadline is coming Thursday. 190?

Back to diet one today and getting more motivated. Walked about 5 miles today, the most I've walked since our trip to New Zealand last year. Also, I cut way down on snacks, only a couple of peanuts and small pieces of cheese today.

Going back up. Just been losing my drive lately. I've really been in a, “Who gives a shit mood”, the last few weeks, with only a couple inspired moments popping in.

Day 144

GROSS, a good metaphor for how I'm doing lately. 144 days, 12 dozen, 1 gross.
That's how I used to count T-shirt sales at fairs, and that was a personal record I set, in August of 1982 at the West Virginia State fair. Working alone, I hand painted 144 shirts in 1 day. $1500 is not bad for 1 days work for an artist.

I know there's lots of famous artists who get that much for one “print”, but on that day, like hundreds of days over a 20 year span, I did something they couldn't.
I made 144 individual people happy.

144 people went home that day, not just with a piece of artwork, but 1 they commissioned and had painted just for them. Yes, in just that 1 day, I did more commissions than many artists do in a decade.

I didn't get rich painting T-shirts, but I had fun doing something I liked, and made a lot of people happy.

Maybe it's time I do that again!

I'm in the red again today, on my step count and on my weight. I'm still eating too many snacks, and I should be below 195 by now. I'm procrastinating again, using an extended deadline.
My mini goals since the 1st week of March is 1.5 lbs. a week. As of last Thursday, I should be at 194, but I got hooked on using my VA clinic dates as a goal, the next one being April 14.

So the old, “ We've got lots of time”, sets in and that little bastard in the back of my head says, “Go ahead and have another snack, you get 3 weeks”. That was when I let the home scale jump back up to 199, and I knew it I had to crack down on the snacking to push that number back down.

I got it back down to 196 with a little fasting, but then that old bastard popped in again, “Take a break, the 14th is still way off.”

Like anyone else who unconsciously plans to fail, you forget that it's much easier to drop a few ounces every day over several weeks, than crash diet several pounds in a couple days.

On April 14 at the VA clinic, I need to be 190 lbs or less, with my cloths on. Today, without cloths, and less than 2 weeks away, I'm 195+.

Every day, I listen to that little bastard in my head, I make that goal harder to reach, and unless I really crack down on it, as all you chubbo's like me out there know, it will reach a point where I can't make that deadline.
To compensate for the coming failure, I'll drown my sorrows in more snacks.
But not this time. On April 14. I will be 190 lbs or less.

Well it wasn't a full fast yesterday, I skipped breakfast, add some cantaloupe for lunch and plain salad for dinner. Plus I munched on peanuts, the low bid on and off.

Another Diet 1 snack trick, always by unshelled nuts.
The more work it takes to eat, the less you do! . It doesn't sound like much, but give it a try. You won't be wolfing down handfuls of nuts when you have to pop each one out of its shell, one at a time.
More work, less food, lower weight!
